Help your people help others—without burning out.
Vicarious trauma can affect even the most experienced professionals. This course is designed to help your team recognise the warning signs, manage emotional fatigue and build habits that protect wellbeing in high-stakes, people-facing roles. Because if your team burns out, nobody wins.
From social workers to nurses, customer service teams to emergency responders, this training helps people stay grounded while doing emotionally demanding work. Vicarious trauma is more common in some sectors, particularly courts, child services, NFPs, corrections, prosecutions and emergency services. There have also been growing reports across the public service. The better we understand it, the better we can respond to it and manage it.
This is not just about raising awareness. It is a hands-on course that gives staff practical tools to stay steady while supporting others. Participants learn how to build healthy boundaries, debrief effectively and develop workplace strategies that reduce stress over time.
This Vicarious Trauma Training goes beyond simply raising awareness. It equips participants with practical tools and techniques to manage the emotional demands of supporting others. Teams learn how to build healthy boundaries, debrief effectively, and implement workplace strategies that help reduce stress over time.
This training is available as a half-day or full-day workshop. We can deliver the session in-person at your organisation or virtually across Australia, depending on your preference.
The training is focused on increasing awareness, protecting mental health, and reducing burnout. Through a hands-on approach, participants gain practical tools to stay grounded while supporting others in demanding environments.
Participants also explore how repeated exposure to distressing situations can affect thinking, behaviour, and decision-making over time. By understanding these patterns, teams are better equipped to respond early and prevent long-term impact.
A strong focus is placed on practical application. Rather than theory alone, this workshop encourages discussion, reflection, and real-world scenarios that mirror the challenges staff face in their roles. This ensures learning is relevant, relatable, and immediately usable in the workplace.
The course also highlights the importance of team-based support systems. Participants learn how to contribute to a workplace culture where people feel safe to speak up, seek support, and look out for one another. This shared responsibility plays a key role in reducing stress and maintaining long-term wellbeing.
By the end of the session, your team will have a clear understanding of how to manage emotional load effectively, support colleagues appropriately, and maintain professional boundaries without compromising care or performance.
