This course is designed to prepare mentors for a mentoring program.

Participants discover a mentoring methodology to structure the mentoring process. Participants also learn how to set expectations with the mentees from the outset. By following this methodology both mentors and mentees feel more comfortable in the mentoring program. Mentors also receive discussion prompters to kick-start effective mentoring conversations.

At the conclusion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Verify how mentoring contributes to organisational and individual development
  • Give examples of pitfalls that can unhinge the mentoring process
  • Analyse a mentoring methodology to structure your mentoring
  • Manage the mentoring process
  • Demonstrate mentoring initiatives to keep the mentee engaged
  • Discuss reverse mentoring. What could you learn?
  • Understand how mentees form expectations about the process
  • Discuss how to establish ground rules
  • Discuss how to set goals and action plans
