Maintaining Ethics & Standards

If you don’t have ethics in business nothing else matters.

Plan of action

If you have ethics in business nothing else matters. If you don’t have ethics in business nothing else matters. This course is unique. Your facilitator will show your people a proven ethical taxonomy. The program is filled with current examples of how poor ethical standards and decisions have badly damaged organisations. Your people will learn that how to work congruently with their values and standards.

Ethical Hypothetical

Your organisation provides products and services to patients in a hospital. One patient strongly believes in a particular product used in his treatment. This product is very expensive and the patient is not financially well off. You also have strong evidence that this product is having zero impact on the patient’s well being.

There are so many ethical dilemmas facing people on a daily basis. Here are some considerations you might have and some possible outcomes.

  1. Tell the patient the product is useless – Health professionals recognise the power of the placebo – If the patient thinks the medicine is good, then there is some value in the medicine.
  2. Sabotage the packaging and give the patient free samples – This method is destroying value for the organisation that pays your wages.
  3. Offer the product to the patient at a substantial discount – This may actually be making the product just affordable and is taking valuable resources away from the patient.

“Always do right – this will gratify some and astonish the rest.”
